Qualification summary
Based on National Occupational Standards (NOS), this Level 2 Diploma in Lifting and Positioning Engineering Construction Loads (RQF) includes units on working safely, effectively, ethically and sustainably to manage risks and hazards, move loads under supervision and more.
This qualification contains the following pathways:
- Simple Lifting and Positioning
- Moving Loads under Supervision
Neither pathway in this qualification gives the learner the skills necessary to perform unsupervised rigging operations.
The learner is required to select one discipline pathway only when registering on the qualification. Successful completion of the qualification pathway will lead to the learner being awarded an:
- ECITB Level 2 Diploma in Lifting and Positioning Engineering Construction Loads (RQF) – Simple Lifting and Positioning
OR
- ECITB Level 2 Diploma in Lifting and Positioning Engineering Construction Loads (RQF) – Moving Loads under Supervision

What is the qualification structure?
To achieve this qualification learners must complete 4 mandatory units per pathway as indicated in the table below.
It takes the average learner 478 hours to complete the Simple Lifting and Positioning Pathway and 538 hours to complete the Moving Loads under Supervision Pathway. This includes 370 or 430 hours of time respectively with a teacher, trainer or assessor, the remaining hours are unsupervised time for learning and producing evidence to be assessed.
The amount of time taken to achieve this qualification is typically 3-6 months.
