Benefits of Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) status

Becoming a Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) will show your commitment to professional standards, continuing professional development and ethical and professional conduct. ChPP status gives assurance to your employer and clients showing achievement at a defined level, helping raise the profile and value of project management as a professional practice. Successful candidates on the programme are included on the publicly available APM Register of Chartered Project Professionals.

What is assessed for the ChPP programme?

The application process is designed to assess the following areas:

  • Technical knowledge: advanced technical knowledge and understanding of how to deliver projects, programmes or portfolios taking into account many interacting factors and different approaches that could be taken.
  • Professional practice: successful application of this knowledge to deliver projects, programmes or portfolios that involved uncertainty or conflicting objectives; high levels of unpredictability or risk; multiple work packages, projects or programmes; multiple interdependent stakeholders, possibly with competing interests.

You will need to commit to professional ethics and show continuing professional development (CPD). You will also need two proposers who support your application.

ChPP 2024/25 programme

Delivered remotely by Changescope Ltd to allow applicants from anywhere in the UK, the programme is delivered over a series of workshops dedicated to the key areas of the project management discipline. The key dates for the programme are:

  • Webinar 1 – Planning your portfolio (10/10/2024, 2-4pm)
  • Webinar 2 – Developing your competences (07/11/2024, 2-3pm)
  • Webinar 3 – Finalising your portfolio (16/01/2025, 3:30-4:30pm)
  • APM submission (07/03/2025)
  • Webinar 4 – Interview planning & preparation (20/03/2025, 11am-12pm)
