Project management professionals from a range of sectors including the oil and gas and nuclear industries will take part in a one-day conference next week aimed at addressing the new challenges facing project managers in the current fast-changing economic landscape.
A small number of free tickets are still available to attend the biennial ECITB Oil & Gas Project Management Conference 2019, which will take place on Thursday, November 7, at The Event Complex Aberdeen (TECA).
Its theme – Next Generation Project Management – will focus on how the discipline can continue to evolve to bring benefit to project practitioners and stakeholders.
Project professionals, including project managers, project support staff and students from a number of universities will hear about new developments in the sector: younger project managers in particular may be interested to learn how they can influence, and how they will be influenced, by these advances.
Chris Claydon, Chief Executive of ECITB, said: “This event is a fantastic opportunity to discover new developments in project management and find out how this evolution can make the oil and gas sector more efficient and maximise project performance.
“Since the last conference in 2017, the UK oil and gas sector has showed signs of recovery, with the price of a barrel up by nearly a third and a number of new projects greenlighted for investment. However, many companies – in particular contractors – are still working with tight margins and it remains an opportune time to examine how project managers can deliver greater value.”
As well as highlighting new developments in the discipline, practical examples of how these are being used will be offered. Drawing on contributions from both within and without the industry, conference topics will include:
• Advances in technology, including “digital project management”
• Changes in behaviours and competence
• Improved project management methods
• Increasing agility and speed of deliver
