Nuclear sector employees impacted by the pandemic can apply for support from the Nuclear Bursary until the end of October.
The current round of Nuclear Bursary Scheme, managed by NSAN and funded by the ECITB and the NDA, focuses on helping to retain and upskill personnel by funding training.
If you have been furloughed or made redundant from a company in the nuclear sector, or work for an SME and want to upskill or develop new skills then this round of the bursary is focused on helping you.
Chris Claydon, Chief Executive of the ECITB, said: “The coronavirus pandemic is posing major challenges for employers, learners and providers and the ECITB stands committed to helping the engineering construction industry. We have already put in place support measures to help organisations and employees continue training during the crisis and this new intervention will help those affected in the nuclear sector specifically.
“Some organisations are facing economic pressures which means they are struggling to support the development of their workforce. We are therefore, in this round of bursaries, prioritising application to support those organisations most affected by the pandemic, particularly on-line development programmes where face to face development is more difficult.”
This round will also support the delivery of the Nuclear Sector Deal, which aims to improve the productivity and competitiveness of the UK nuclear supply chain, reduce barriers to entry and encourage SMEs to enter the sector.
The Nuclear Bursary will provide a financial contribution towards the cost of programmes of study relevant to the UK nuclear industry or associated costs for the course completion.
Relevant programmes of study supported include Higher Level short courses, First Degree and Post-Graduate programmes, CPD qualifications and workforce development.
Given the current social distancing measures in place due to the Covid-19 restrictions, applications are welcome from people embarking on courses/training that are delivered in a Covid secure/friendly way.
Apply before 4pm on 30th October for support.
