The ECITB is asking engineering construction employers to outline their training needs for 2024 in the annual Skills & Need Survey, which has just opened.
The survey is short, does not require complex data and will be used to determine where specific training provision will be needed in 2024. We want to hear from both in-scope and out-of-scope ECI employers.
Data from this survey will:
- Provide information on regional and sectoral training needs, trends, gaps and opportunities.
- Enable the ECITB to proactively respond to the areas of stated 2024 need, as well as insight into wider industry activity.
- Highlight to training providers areas of regional need.
A report showing the main trends and anonymised findings will be made publicly available to all industry stakeholders, whilst company-level datasets will be used by the ECITB to signpost relevant initiatives and training to individual employers based on their reported needs.

Matt Knights, Head of Regional Operations at the ECITB, said: “I would urge all employers to complete the survey to ensure our regional teams have a full understanding of the skills challenges they face.
“Outlining your known and anticipated requirements for 2024 will help us to target our efforts to specific areas of need.”
The closing date for the survey is 16th February 2024.
