The engineering construction industry is critical to the UK economy. With some £600 billion of infrastructure projects set to be delivered over the next decade, there has never been a more important or interesting time to join the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB), the Department for Education-sponsored skills training body.
The ECITB Board, under the guidance of its chair, Lynda Armstrong OBE, has recently concluded a levy consultation based on a new three year strategy. The levy consultation, which for the first time asked for an increase in levy, was strongly endorsed by the industry, demonstrating its strong commitment to training.
The ECITB is now looking for four new Board members who understand the needs of the engineering construction industry, and will help steer the organisation to successfully deliver the new strategy.
Trustees will work with the Chair to hold the Executive Team to account for delivery of the organisation’s offer to the engineering construction industry. They will also act as motivated and enthusiastic ambassadors of the ECITB.
The Board meets six times a year. Meetings generally take place in London, however, Trustees may be required to undertake occasional travel to meetings with stakeholders as an ambassador for the ECITB. Board members’ time requirements total no more than 12 days per year.
The ECITB is looking for individuals engaged in the employment of people in engineering construction. It is important that the board is representative of all engineering construction industry sectors and different sizes. Candidates from SMEs, as well as large companies, are particularly welcome. We welcome applications from candidates from differing cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
All reasonable travel expenses incurred in connection with the role are payable by the ECITB and remuneration may be available for some roles.
