ECITB Wind Turbine scholars, currently studying at NESCol, got a flavour of life working offshore at the Operations and Maintenance base at Montrose Port which services the Seagreen offshore wind farm, currently under construction. The wind farm is a JV partnership between SSE Renewables and TotalEnergies.
The scholars learned about the site’s Marine Control Centre and its new Service Operation Vessel, the Edda Brint.
ECITB’s Head of New Entrants, Adrian Wookey, said: “Today’s visit to Seagreen was an excellent opportunity for the scholars to see first-hand the great opportunities that exist in the renewables sector. Hopefully, this experience along with the informative brief they received, will add further context to their studies.

Created by the ECITB, with support from the Energy Transition Zone (ETZ), the wind turbine scholarship programme aims to address workforce shortages in key engineering roles. Scholars get a £100-week grant to develop their foundation engineering skills, focusing on wind energy roles and the wider industries that will deliver net zero.
