There are a range of disciplines delivered by our network of training providers across the UK. The scholarship pathways starting in Autumn 2024 are:

CATCH, Immingham (Humberside), Pipefitting and Welding
East Coast College, Lowestoft (east coast) – Mechanical
Engineering College, Birkenhead (north-west), Pipefitting and Welding
Forth Valley College, Falkirk (Scotland central belt) – Fabrication Welding and Mechanical
North East Scotland College, Aberdeen (north-east Scotland), – Wind Turbine Technician

Fabrication
Good fabric maintenance helps maintain asset integrity. This discipline involves surface preparation, blast cleaning, spraying, painting and thermal insulation.
In 2024, fabrication is being delivered within the Scholarship pathway at:
Pembrokeshire College (Wales), Pembrokeshire College
Mechanical
Mechanical Maintenance Technicians are responsible for the fault diagnosis, routine servicing, repair and maintenance of complex plant, machinery and associated components and on occasions to install machinery used within their areas.
In 2024, the Mechanical Scholarship pathway is being delivered at:

Pipefitting
Pipefitters are responsible for the positioning, assembly, fabrication, maintenance and repairs of piping systems.

Plating
From producing structural steelwork for bridges to dismantling storage tanks, platers work on projects across the engineering construction industry.

Rigging
Steel erectors and riggers are integral to the construction, day to day activities and maintenance of the UK’s engineering construction sites

Welding
Welders in the engineering construction industry are responsible for the joining together of metal, or sometimes thermoplastic, components and assemblies in either pipe or plate form.

Wind Turbine Technician
A wind turbine technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of wind turbines used in wind farms for electricity generation. Their work involves working at heights to inspect and service wind turbines.
They play a vital role in the renewable energy sector, a key industry sector in the journey to net zero.

What does an ECITB Scholarship involve
- Industrial skills and knowledge training for 3-5 days a week over one academic year
- Online content – ECITB Digital Passport, clean energy technologies and behavioural based safety
- ECITB Pre Employment Programme which includes:
- CCNSG Safety Passport
- Working safely with hand tools, power tools and equipment
- Manual handling
- Low risk confined space
- Working at height
- Abrasive wheels (handheld and bench mounted)
- Regular meetings with employers looking for new talent
- Work placements with engineering construction employers
