“We can’t believe we’ve won two. We were finalists last year but didn’t win, so this is just fantastic. We’re super excited and proud.”
Fluor Limited was pronounced the winner of two accolades at the 12th annual ECI Training and Development Awards, which celebrated excellence in training and development.
The Farnborough-based company took home awards for ED&I Initiative of the Year and the Leading Industry Safety accolade at the prestigious ceremony at One Marylebone in London organised by the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB).
The judging panel, made up of Mark Fotheringham from Infinity Engineering, Tracey Shelley from BCECA and John Webster from Applus UK, recognised its commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion “as a moral imperative”.
Initiatives have included neurodiversity talks, sign language classes, menopause awareness and STEM outreach to underrepresented groups such as female graduates.
“To have had our ED&I initiatives recognised demonstrates the carefully curated initiatives and events that we’ve run that are not just diverse, but truly inclusive and equitable.
“We’ve worked hard to ensure everyone has a sense of belonging and has had equal opportunity to contribute to influence our workplace culture. Our commitment to ED&I is not just about compliance, it’s an imperative.
“Attracting and retaining the best talent enables us to drive innovation, harness the full potential of our workforce and deliver superior results for our clients.”

Safety accolade
Fluor, which delivers engineering, procurement and construction projects to clients globally, also won the safety award, which recognises organisations that have demonstrated innovation in cultivating a safe working environment through education, training, mentoring, programmes or protocols.
Fluor was honoured for making safety its “first core value” which drives the actions of everyone in the company daily. Its submission highlighted how the company aims to innovate workplace safety by promoting a culture of caring and leading the implementation of best practices.
“Safety is one of our core values at Fluor and is an integral part of our DNA. Living safer together promotes the wellbeing of our people, communities and the environment.
“Our teams are dedicated to making sure everyone stays safe and looks out for each other through various training programmes and initiatives.
“It helps everyone understand that safety impacts everything we do and we don’t compromise on safety ever. By instilling this ethos, we ensure that everyone goes home to their loved ones safely.”
